Impunity in kenya is practised in its most crude way. How else do people just grab forest land and demand compensation before vacating. After sleeping on the job and killing millions of kenyans through defective condoms one still has the courage to tell us that he can never be fired. It is allover and more vicious than AIDS. |

Impunity in kenya has really ripped off tax payers of their little income just to pay some malicious behaviors of some of our chosen representatives in the government. the systems should be set in their right track to deal with this. Manipulation of the systems won't take us anywhere. Just by appointing Ringera is in itseft impunity. |

Mbugua, am hoping the editors and the management of this site will and have allowed kenyans of all walks express their views. Nation newspaper have chocked me since 2004 for being a critic of some politicians in narc and the gnu. When the same people they are protect tried to mazzle the media houses we went to the streets to protect the freedom of expression to all kenyans.
Remember those new in readership use the same forum to assend to where the are. Freedom of expression is guaranteed in our constitution. If we are given a forum to express our opinions why sensor and chock guys who hold different opinions? |

Its a shame Mr. Moi can stand befor kenyans trying to defend the occupation of mau. Does he realize that by allocating people land in the forest he is actually the problem? Should there be anybody going to hague for impunity then Moi should lead the way! |

Imanyaras efforts as it confirms that you want this discussion to take a certain direction. EVERY VISITOR OF THIS SITE MUST BE ALLOWED TO EXPRESS HIS/HER OPINION WITHOUT PREJUDICE WHETHER IN SUPPORT OR AGAINST THIS BILL. WHY DID YOU DEVELEP THIS SITE THEN IF THE INTENTION WAS TO COLLECT VIEWS ONE SIDED. ITS A WASTE OF HON. IMANYARAS AND HIS SUPPORTERS CASH AND EFFORTS. |

Judging by the kind of reactions being received on this website,i believe that Kenyans are totally tired of our nonstarter principals.
What we need is a paradigm shift. If the special tribunal bill is passed by our MPs it will work to prove that there is justice remaining for every single Kenyan. Those leaders who think that they are above the law will be humbled into making decisions that work for the interest of Kenyan. In the history of Kenya,we have only seen the big personalities being acquited from very corrupt cases. That is why they are growing cold feet at the thought of being made to pay for their injustices. The special tribunal bill,if passed, will be an amendment to the constitution, but specific to the post election violence cases.Let me beg to correct those who think that the bill aims stripping off any sitting president immunity from prosecution. On the contrary, the issue of the stripping off the presidential immunity is very specific to the issues concerned with the post Election violence. This is advised by the fact that, the two principal are in theory supposed to be sharing power on a fifty -fifty basis:a situation inspired by events following post election violence.Since no one truly knows who won the elections, the two principals-if called upon to do so-should appear as equal in any judicial process. However,on all the other matters not concerned with PEV, the president will maintain his immunity.
A famous MP and a reknown cabinet minister has gone on press lamenting that he may only support the bill if it first agitate for the punishment of those who stole the votes.I am disappointed to speculate that this Honorable member of parliament has either not gone through the bill or he is using his public position to distort the truth.I am not a legal expert, but my KCSE English and God given eyes have allowed me to decipher from the bill that all events leading to the post election violence will be investigated, and anyone found guilty of even the ills committed before, during and after the election to excite the post election violence will be prosecuted.
Above all, what is most astonishingly not coming from those who resist the bill is the part that advocates for the compensation of the verified victims of PEV.Any straight thinking MP,especially one from the areas affected by the violence, would be pleased to support a bill that will compensate his displaced constituents. But no,most of them would rather not empower their 'poor' constituents so that come 2012,they may use rationed handouts to woo the oppressed masses into voting for them.
It's a pity that many people are mistakenly equating the special tribunal bill to the local tribunal bill.I beg to forgive their ignorance. If i may,let me start by stating that the special tribunal or Imanyara's Bill if you like is a hybrid of the local and the Hague option. The big fish will be taken to the Hague(This takes care of the witness protection issue)while the 'footsoldiers' will be trialed in Kenya by a special tribunal.
The special tribunal will be independent and supreme to the local judicial system. The Attorney general won't be in a position to suspend or withdraw any case concerned with PEV,the president will have no powers to grant Amnesty and those public officials accused by the special tribunal will have to relinquish their position until proven innocent.
The Bill is totally pro-mwananchi and that's why most MPs are afraid of it.
We have 16 days to the Ocampo deadline on the formation of a local solution to PEV,if the MPs don't pass the bill, the Hague option will thrive...only Kenya will in this case be considered a failed state.
Lets all rally behind the bill and question those MPs against it on their reasons for doing so.If it's for technical matter we will welcome their informed suggestion, but if it's for political reasons, well it's the high time the Master be prodded to become the servant of the people!

Befor 2007 elections Kibaki was advised to follow IPPG resolutions in appointing ECK commissioners but he ignored, the outcome was an ECK in which kenyans had no faith and the results were seen and still being felt by all (especially the IDPs). He is now being advised to follow the law and precedents in appointing KACC directors but he, once again, does not want to listen. If he gets his way the outcome will be a KACC in which kenyans have no faith and the consequences may be great. If he is a servant of the people why cant he obey his employers or does he have skeletons he would not like exposed in his kitchen? Will our MPs allow him? |

The webmaster is impartial as regards this bill. We are currently working to install an anti-spam feature on the website but it beats the whole purpose and concept of the website if we have to deal with people who are complaining about trivial issues like us deleting spam or comments that negate the whole purpose of the website and not on the broader picture of ending impuity in Kenya. At Newsbreak Media LTD we neither support nor reject the bill and we have not been hired to delete comments, some may have been deleted unintentionally if they were immersed within the spam and it would have taken us an immense amount of time to clean through each and every comment. We urge the public to bear with us and engage in open debate.. webmaster@africanewsbreak.com |

The webmasters comment down here is quite appreciated. Nevertheless, freedom of expression must be guaranteed unless and until it is seen to be interfering with other people’s rights. He has deleted a lot of articles some which have been there for weeks and in some cases no SPAM was not deleted. Please what reason/s made those articles be deleted? In which way do the articles fall, in your own words, under the category of “comments that negate the whole purpose of the website and not on the broader picture of ending impunity in Kenya?” kindly spare this question deletion. |

You all MPs are just a gang of thieves stealing with impunity from poor mwananchi. Are you not ashamed of impoverishing the very voters you cheated you will serve and protect. All of you should go to Hague and answer for your inadequacy of representing the voters. Shame on you. |

Whatever is happening today is a fodder for those who want to bring change. Given the comments on this site and the recent attempt to hack it, I can only say that we have cornered these culprits and the are fealing the heat. If by any chance the parliament rejects the bill then the people will have to engage in a popular campaign to force the MPs to pass it. So Kenyans let us prepare to make the push. |

A good number of the MPs are not tech savy, we still have a gud number who are still computer illiterate. Perhaps, they should be informed of this site, then we can make good judgement of them. I have in mind, my area MP (Waibara) who has never contributed in parliament because of his educational handicap. |
